Our Christian Vision

At Bladon, our Christian vision is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes our decisions, our relationships, our curriculum and the opportunities we provide for every child to flourish.

Our vision is:

Rooted in faith, growing in wisdom, shining in life

Together, we nurture curiosity, inspire creativity and embrace the world with confidence, compassion and hope.

Our Biblical Foundation

Our vision is inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel:

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

We believe every child is uniquely created and deeply loved by God. Like a tree with strong roots, children need security, belonging and care in order to grow. As they develop wisdom through learning and experience, they become equipped to use their gifts to serve others and make a positive difference in God’s world.

Jesus calls us to let our light shine—not for our own recognition, but so that our lives reflect God’s love through kindness, courage, service and hope. Our vision encourages every member of our school community to discover their God-given potential and to live with confidence, compassion and purpose.

A Vision Shaped by Our Community

Our vision was created through a period of reflection and collaboration with our whole school community over the course of a year.

We recognised that our previous vision reflected who we were, but we wanted a vision that would inspire who we are becoming. Children, families, staff, governors and our local churches all contributed their ideas, hopes and aspirations for the future of our school.

Together, we agreed a vision that reflects our shared Christian foundation and our ambition for every child to flourish throughout their lives. We officially launched our new vision in a whole school collective worship in July 2026, sharing the journey we had taken to create the vision and explored what it means in ways that were meaningful for the children. To mark this special occasion, the youngest and oldest pupils in our school came together to plant two trees in our new Peace Garden. The trees are a lasting symbol of our vision: deep roots that provide strength and stability, continual growth throughout life’s journey and branches reaching out to bring hope and life to others.

What Our Vision Means

Rooted in faith

We provide a caring, inclusive community where everyone is known, valued and loved. Through Christian worship, reflection, relationships and shared values, we nurture strong foundations of faith, character and belonging that enable children to flourish.

Growing in wisdom

Learning is about much more than acquiring knowledge. We encourage children to ask questions, think deeply, develop resilience and embrace challenge. We nurture curiosity, inspire creativity and help children develop the wisdom to make thoughtful choices throughout their lives.

Shining in life

We want every child to recognise and celebrate their unique gifts. Inspired by the example of Jesus, we encourage children to show compassion, serve others, care for creation and become confident citizens who make a positive difference within their communities and beyond.

Living Our Vision

Our Christian vision is lived out every day through:

  • our daily acts of worship and opportunities for prayer and reflection;
  • our broad, ambitious and creative curriculum;
  • the relationships we build within our school family;
  • our commitment to children’s wellbeing and inclusion;
  • opportunities for leadership, service and courageous advocacy;
  • our partnerships with families, the church and the wider community;
  • our commitment to spiritual development, helping every child encounter moments of awe, wonder and reflection.

Our vision is not simply a statement displayed on our walls. It is the foundation upon which our school community grows together, enabling every child to flourish academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally as they become ready to let their light shine in the world.

Shine Your Light

Our vision calls every child to let their light shine by using their learning, gifts and talents to make a positive difference in the world.

From September 2026, across the school, each class will undertake a ‘Shine Your Light’ Mission. These projects encourage children to explore issues that matter both locally and globally, asking how they can respond with compassion, hope and action.

Whether protecting wildlife, caring for God’s creation, supporting charities, promoting fairness or strengthening our local community, these missions inspire children to recognise that even small actions can have a lasting impact.

Through their learning, children develop the confidence to become courageous advocates for change, understanding that they each have the power to shine their light and help build a more just, compassionate and hopeful world.
